Grace writes Markham telling him of her appreciation for his letterand the copy of "Inbrothered", with his signature. She continues about a friend in the Crippled Children's hospital and asks if he is familiar with Nancy Byrd Turner and "Yesterday Has Slipped Away."

California poet. Raised near Vacaville, became a schoolteacher in Coloma and later in Oakland. Became famous overnight with publication of "The Man with a Hoe," his protest against brutalization of labor, in "San Francisco Examiner" (January 15, 1899).
